Manitowoc Ice Makers

The Manitowoc Company was founded in 1902 by Charles West and Elias Gunnell in Manitowoc, WI, as a shipbuilding and ship-repair company. In 1945, Manitowoc entered the foodservice industry by manufacturing freezers. In 1966, Manitowoc begins producing commercial ice making machines. In 1995, Manitowoc purchased the Shannon Group, a major manufacturer of commercial refrigeration equipment, becoming part of Manitowoc's Foodservice Group. In 2016, Manitowoc spun-off its Foodservice as an independent company. In 2017, Manitowoc Foodservice name was changed to Welbilt.
