The history of Johnson Controls dates back to 1883 when Warren Johnson developed a building temperature control device at his home in Whitewater, WI. The company founder, along with a group of Milwaukee investors incorporated the Johnson Electric Service Company in 1885 to manufacture these devices. In 2016, Johnson Controls merged with Tyco International to create Johnson Controls International plc, a company headquartered in Cork, Ireland.
